Police are looking for a driver and witnesses after a child was struck in downtown Windsor last weekend.
On Saturday, June 24 around 2pm a mother and her 2-year-old son were walking across the intersection of Wyandotte St. and Ouellette Ave. As they stepped out into the intersection a vehicle began to turn northbound on Ouellette. That's when, according to the mother, the boy tripped and struck his head on the passenger side door of the passing car and his arms were run over by the vehicle.
The mother told police the boy cried at first but then appeared fine. That's when the driver left and she decided not to contact authorities.
It wasn't until two hours later, when the boy was showing signs of being unusually sleepy that the mother decided to walk the boy to a local hospital. She encountered a patrol officer along the way and reported the incident.
The boy was diagnosed with a minor concussion.
Investigators would like to speak to any witnesses, as well as the involved driver.
The vehicle involved is described as being silver in colour, possibly a neon. The driver is described as being an older looking, heavy set male with grey hair. There was also a passenger in the vehicle.
