Many in the community are mourning the death of Colleen Renaud, the long time general manager of the Windsor Goodfellows.
Renaud's daughter, Shannon Beaumont, says her mother passed away Wednesday morning from ovarian cancer.
Renaud worked for the Windsor Goodfellows for the last 46 years as the organization's only employee. The organization is most well-known for it's holiday newspaper campaign, which provides meals during the holiday season.
After hearing of her passing, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens issued a statement on his Facebook page.
"I'm deeply saddened to say goodbye to such a wonderful person who has done so much good for our community. I'm a better person for having known her as are the tens of thousands of people she has helped over the years. On behalf of all Windsorites, I extend my deepest appreciation and say thank-you to such a special lady for a half-century of service to her community. You made our City better," says Dilkens.
Beaumont has been acting as general manager for the Goodfellows since her mother's diagnosis.
