Woman Charged Following Knifepoint Robbery

A Windsor woman is facing a number of charges after two youths were robbed of a bicycle at knifepoint.

The Windsor Police Service says on Friday around 3:45pm, a 12-year-old male and 14-year-old male were visiting a friend in the area of Giles Blvd. E and Mercer St. when a woman approached them and grabbed their bike.  Both youths attempted to stop the woman, but she reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened them before making off with the bike.

Then on Sunday, the same woman attempted to steal a mobile phone at a motel on Howard Ave. near Charles St., but ultimately returned it to the owner.

Police were called and located a suspect walking a short distance away from the motel.

As a result, a 27-year-old Windsor woman was arrested in connection to the theft of the bike.  A knife, a quantity of drugs and suspected stolen property were seized by officers during the arrest.

The woman has since been charged with robbery with a weapon, robbery, uttering threats, possessing weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
