Ground Effects Donates To Mental Health

Ground Effects is making a multi-year commitment to help people in Windsor and Essex County with mental illness.

For the next three years, the company will donate $10,000 to the Canadian Mental Health's Sole Focus campaign.

"It's hugely important to us and we'll do more to help the organization more than we have today. It's our responsibility and that stigma needs to go away," says Jim Scott, president of Ground Effects.

The Sole Focus campaign was launched in February with a goal of $500,000 over the next three years.

CMHA Windsor-Essex CEO Claudia den Boer says they've raised nearly $200,000 since the launch of the campaign.

"It's about starting the conversation to start to deal with the stigma so that we can talk about it just as we would about our cancer diagnosis or our bad back," says den Boer.

The money will go toward education campaigns and workplace wellness programs in the community.
