Music Festival Raises $39,000

The McGregor Music Festival for Cancer is making another large donation to the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.

The festival held in June featured nine local bands and raised $39,000, which will be put towards the men's health campaigns at the foundation.

"It makes a big difference to make sure that the treatment that we have here is state of the art. And money like the $39,000 raised will make a big difference in putting a dent in that," says Houida Kassem with the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.

Festival Chair Susan LeClair says they've been holding the festival for 28 years and every year they manage to raise more than the last through raffles, auctions and corporate sponsors.

"The attendance was 700 again this year, probably over 700 and we sold the pig for $1600. Everyone brings their wallet so I think that has a lot to do with it," says LeClair.

Over the past 28 years, the McGregor Music Festival has raised more than $215,000 for the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.
