Windsor and Essex County are getting some fat cheques to help pay for community infrastructure projects.
Last month, Ottawa delivered the first of two annual $391-million instalments of the Gas Tax Fund to Ontario. The funding will flow to municipalities through the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
In total, the region will receive a total of $23.6-million, with Windsor getting the lion's share of $12.8-million.
The county will get the next biggest chunk at $5.4-million.
Amherstburg will receive $655,371. Essex's share is $595,902, while Kingsville gets $870,823 and Leamington, $863,542. Another $870,838 will flow to LaSalle. Tecumseh's cheque is for $717,819, and Lakeshore's is for just over $1-million.
Many communities across the province will use the money for road and bridge repairs.
