Windsor Provides Update On Heavy Rain

The City of Windsor continues to monitor the ongoing rain situation.

The city reported late Tuesday afternoon that all systems dealing with water control were functioning properly. However, the large quantity of rain falling in a short period of time was filling up gutters and low-lying roadways.

The city had received at least 100 calls through the 311 system with complaints about flooding in basements, spanning neighbourhoods across the city. The rain Tuesday afternoon has caused problems with standing water and flooding in the city of Windsor and neighbouring LaSalle.

"We encourage residents to either call 311 or use the online service request (SR) system”, says Windsor city engineer Mark Winterton in a news release. “These reports allow us to track any developing trends and find solutions to recurring issues."

The service request system can be accessed be clicking here.

The city says they have devoted numerous resources to reducing the chance of basement flooding. Details on the basement flood protection subsidy program can be found by clicking here.
