UPDATE: Garage Fire in Windsor was Arson

Windsor Fire and Rescue say a garage fire near downtown was intentionally set.

Firefighters were called to the 400 block of Wyandotte St W, near Church St just before 5pm. A garage at the rear of a residential property was ablaze when firefighters arrived.

The occupants of the residence were evacuated as a precaution and the fire was put out within half an hour, fire officials say.

Fire officials now say a person has been arrested and facing likely arson charges.

There were no reported injuries. Damage was estimated at about $45,000.

Wyandotte W at Church St was closed while the fire event was ongoing.
