A bill to expand post-traumatic stress disorder coverage to more first responders is another step closer to becoming law.
The Supporting Ontario's First Responders Act was passed into law last year but NDP MPP Taras Natyshak is attempting to expand the law to include workers such as nurses, health care workers, and police service employees.
Natyshak says they are front line staff who deserve the coverage through WSIB.
"They are exposed to the exact same incidents and trauma in their day to day routines that everyone else is," says Natyshak.
The bill to expand coverage has now passed the second reading stage. If it passes the committee stage it will be enacted into law.
