UPDATE: Two Suspects Wanted in Pharmacy Robbery

Windsor Police say two suspects are responsible for a robbery at a pharmacy Saturday afternoon.

Police officers were called to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Tecumseh Rd E at Howard shortly before 5pm on a report of a robbery in progress. When officers arrived, they immediately detected a noxious chemical had been released inside the store and Windsor Fire and Rescue were brought to the location.

The suspects went to the pharmacy area of the store and made off with an undetermined amount of narcotics. One of the suspects was confronted by a customer and was sprayed with bear spray.

The store was evacuated of employees and customers as a precaution. There were some employees who had exposure to the chemical but they were treated at the scene. The store was ventilated.

The two suspects entered the store through the rear entrance with their faces covered, according to Windsor Police public information officer Sgt. Steven Betteridge.

The first suspect is described as a bald white heavyset male, wearing a grey sweatshirt with a white t-shirt underneath, blue pants and white running shoes. He also appeared to have bear spray in his possession.

The second suspect is also a white male, but with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a red hoodie with a traffic vest on top. He appeared to be carrying some form of weapon.

The suspects fled through the rear entrance of the store and took off in a grey late-model Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The WPS Major Crimes Division and Forensic Identification Unit assisted with the investigation.

If you recognize the suspects, do not attempt to confront them yourself but call 911 immediately. Anyone who may have information is asked to call Windsor Police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
