Ontario's police watchdog is investigating an incident involving the Windsor Police Service and the death of a 26-year-old woman.
A release from the Special Investigations Unit says, on Monday September 4, Windsor police arrested a 26-year-old woman who was taken to the police station. The woman was acting erratically so an ambulance was called for and the woman was taken to hospital. She was released the following day but re-admitted on September 10.
Just over a week later, on September 18, 2017 the woman was taken off life support and was pronounced dead a short time later.
No other details about the circumstances of the case have been released at this time.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. Investigators are also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
The SIU is an arms length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
