One person is in hospital with serious burn injuries after a fire broke out on the second floor of a Windsor apartment building.
The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service reported the fire at 2420 Rivard Ave. on Thursday around 4pm. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control quickly, as it was confined to one apartment unit.
One person was rescued from the building and taken to hospital to be treated for burn injuries. He is listed in critical but stable condition. He has been transferred to a London hospital for treatment.
Two cats were also rescued by firefighters.
The fire was accidental and caused $15,000 in damage.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted and will be attending the scene to investigate.
