The U.S. Coast Guard had to rescue seven people, including two children, after their boat ran aground on Buckeye Reef, just east of Middle Bass Island.
Coast Guard Sector Detroit got the distress call around 7:30pm Saturday. The vessel was listing badly, and one of the adults was experiencing a panic attack.
A crew from Marblehead, Ohio responded along with a local commercial salvage crew but were not able to get close enough to the vessel.
That's when a crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit launched a helicopter to rescue the group.
Once it arrived, four of the people were rescued by the helicopter crew and taken to the Middle Bass Island Municipal Airport, before it returned for the remaining three people.
The group was looked over by paramedics, who reported they were not hurt, all seven were taken by to Station Marblehead.
The Marine Safety Unit Toledo says there was no pollution from the stricken vessel.
