The next time you make a donation to the Downtown Mission or other drop in shelters, think about feminine hygiene products.
The Downtown Mission partnered with the University of Windsor School of Social Work to start a feminine hygiene product drive and awareness campaign.
"It's just a friendly reminder that these are items that we do need and to kind of be realistic. This happens every month for ladies and me giving them a couple tampons is not going to last their entire menstrul cycle," says Adrienne Payne, healthcare navigator and outreach worker for the Downtown Mission.
Payne says they are in need of tampons, pads, liners, and sanitary wipes. Donations can be made at either Downtown Mission location.
The Downtown Mission and the School of Social Work kicked off the campaign with a collection drive and bake sale on Thursday at their downtown campus on Ferry St.
