Person Pulled From Water Near Boblo

Two Boblo Island residents are being credited for saving a man who fell off a dock near the Boblo Island Restaurant Thursday morning.

A woman was walking her dog when she heard someone calling for help. She immediately called 911. As they waited for emergency crews to arrive, another man came upon the scene and held the man above water.

Amherstburg Deputy Fire Chief Lee Tome says they believe the man was fishing off the dock when he fell into the icy water.

"He's extremely fortunate, if that lady is not walking her dog at the time, because of cold temperatures and the gentleman who happened to hear her yelling to assist and hold the man up above water until we arrived, he was probably in the water 20 minutes," says Tome.

The man is suffering from hypothermia but is expected to make a full recovery.
