Bear Raffle Offers Man Solace Dealing With MS

A London man is bringing his mission to support families dealing with multiple sclerosis to Jackson Park Saturday.

Barry McNaughton is raffling off an 8' bear with the proceeds going to help families like his own.

McNaughton's wife and son-in-law both suffer from the autoimmune disease.

"I can say it's emotional, okay?" says McNaughton. "I'm just trying to do what I can, you know? From the bottom of my heart for the MS [society]."

McNaughton and "Barry the Bear" have been making the rounds at Santa Claus parades in the London region, but he is expanding his campaign. While he's at Bright Lights Windsor, his wife, Jesse will be in Sarnia on Saturday.

The bear, which he bought at Costco, being raffled off is actually a duplicate of the one McNaughton is bringing on the road.

"Because I've had this bear out at all the area parades, of course, a couple of the parades it rained, so of course the bear did get wet. So, Costco has donated a second bear for me," he says. "When the draw is done on Wednesday, whoever wins will win it, and this bear might have to stay with me. I've gotten sort of attached to it."

The proceeds from the raffle will go to the MS Society in London.
