Calls To 311 Increase

Windsor's 311 call centre was a very busy place in 2017, according to statistics released by city hall.

The City of Windsor says calls were up 3,000 from 2016 to 139,241, and three-quarters of those calls were answered within 45 seconds.

The average length of a call was around 3 minutes, and 84% were resolved within that conversation.

"We knew from historical numbers that the majority of calls came in during traditional business hours," says call centre manager Alena Sleziak. "We were happy to see residents supported our move to a better business model and to see our staff embrace it so well. Our numbers were better right across the board."

The city has also released its list of the most popular inquiries made in the fourth quarter of last year.

Calls about dirty yards and tree maintenance continue to dominate the statistics. There were 933 complaints about unkempt yards and 737 about taking care of trees.

The third most cited complaint was about garbage not being collected at 660. Snow plow and salting requests were fourth with 598 inquiries, and calls about rats and other rodents rounded out the top five at 447.
