The University of Windsor is investigating Tuesday afternoon's burn incident at Odette School of Business.
University President Alan Wildeman says a faculty member was involved.
"One faculty member was injured in the course of extinguishing the fire," Wildeman said in a statement issued Wednesday. "A woman was severely burned by a fire in an office on the fourth floor."
Windsor police Constable Andy Drouillard says the 34-year-old woman has been taken to a Hamilton hospital. A 46-year-old man suffered minor burns in the incident.
"We have not received further medical updates on the condition of the serious burn victim," Wildeman says.
Wildeman says Windsor police and the Ontario Fire Marshal concluded their investigations late Tuesday evening. Classes and other activities in the building have resumed.
He says there were many witnesses as the incident unfolded, and the university has made counselling services available.
