Windsor Police Streamline Auction Process

It is now easier for you to buy items put up for auction by police.

The Windsor Police Service has entered into a partnership with two online auction firms to give people a chance to bid online for lost or stolen items currently held by police, but have never been claimed.

Bidders will be able to bid on items offered not just by Windsor police but also local and regional police services across Ontario. Several universities and the Toronto Transit Commission are also partners with these auction sites.

Police Auctions Canada offers items in numerous categories. Starting bids for items on that site is $1.

WPS is also offering auction items through GovDeals.ca, which provides services to various government agencies to help them sell confiscated and surplus goods.

Constable Andy Drouillard of Windsor Police says in a release that in the past, items that have been recovered and stored in their evidence archives would be turned over to an auction house for sale. Now, instead of attending a police auction at a time when it would not be convenient for the consumer, the consumer can bid for items online from the comfort of their own computer or device.
