Bain Gives Last Warden Address

The warden of Essex County spoke of the need for municipal collaboration as he delivered his final address as Warden.

Tom Bain delivered the speech on Thursday.

"The ability to collaborate has been tremendous with education, with our manufacturing, our agricultural and working with our political leaders, it's been great and the results are there," says Bain.

Bain announced earlier this year that he does not plan to run for warden after this term of council. He says he will run for the mayor of Lakeshore again so hopes to still have a seat at the county table.

During the next term of council Bain says one of their biggest priorities should be the reconstruction of Hwy. 3.

"That's dangerous, and we're going to have to continue to push for work there," says Bain. "Certainly we'll have to work on agreements with the border crossing and getting goods into [the] United States, tariffs are going to be a problem."

The next municipal election is October 22, 2018.
