With less than two weeks to go before the deadline, Leamington's Bank Theatre has just $75,000 to raise in its fundraising campaign.
The Municipality of Leamington has pledged to match up to $400,000 in funding for the new theatre through a trust fund set up to support the arts.
So far, the theatre has raised $325,000, and the deadline is April 23. The campaign began last October.
"We know more is coming in, and our committee is out talking with people on a daily basis," says Bank Theatre Chair of Fundraising Barbara Martens.
The committee says it has several options to offer patrons and community partners, including online donations, naming rights, and seat sponsorship.
The Bank Theatre has been preparing its new home on Erie St. S for years. The latest round started last fall and Building Committee Co-Chair Dennis Dick says a new box office, washrooms, VIP lounge, and grand staircase are almost done.
Events continue to be held offsite until renovations are complete.
