A concealed hatchet has led to charges against a 38-year-old man from Windsor.
Officers went to the area of McDougall St. and Tecumseh Rd. E early Sunday afternoon for a report of a man riding a bicycle with a large knife concealed in his pants.
Police say the suspect refused to stop for officers when they arrived and began to run toward families and children enjoying the splash pad at Jackson Park on Canada Day.
Officers chased him and tackled the man. A physical struggle followed and officers used a taser to control him.
Investigators say he had a hatchet on him along with an airsoft pistol and a small quantity of suspected Oxycodone pills.
A 38-year-old Windsor man is now charged with obstructing police, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and three counts of breach of probation.
