Windsor Man Faces Break-And-Enter Charges

A Windsor man is facing charges related to a break-and-enter investigation.

The 30-year-old is charged with break-and-enter, two counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of possession of stolen property.

Police were initially called at 5am Tuesday to a computer business on Marentette Ave. near Devonshire Mall. The entire front glass window was smashed with glass scattered all over the store and the parking lot. There was also damage to the store.

The investigation showed that a Dodge Caravan had intentionally backed into the building. A male suspect exited the vehicle, stole merchandise from the business, and fled in the van.

On Friday, officers found the van parked at a motel on Howard Ave. near Vanier St. The licence plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen to police earlier in the day.

The suspect was seen near the van and arrested.

Police say the van used in the theft was stolen on July 8, and the licence plate was stolen on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
