It would appear the unique disguise did not work.
Windsor police say they have made an arrest in a gas station robbery where the suspect wore a reusable shopping bag on his head. It happened at the corner of Howard Ave. and Grand Marais Rd. E around 9:30pm Monday.
The suspect was shown on video surveillance coming to the door with the bag on his head, pausing and appearing to rethink his strategy, before leaving.
He returned a few moments later after having cut eyeholes out of the bag.
The suspect, who was carrying some kind of sharp object like a pair of scissors, managed to get away with cigarettes and cash.
Around 8:30pm Tuesday, officers were in the area of Howard Ave. between Vanier and Capitol St. on an unrelated call when they spotted a man who looked like the suspect standing outside a business.
During the arrest, officers found some methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with property they think may have been taken from the gas station.
A 47-year-old man now faces five charges including robbery with a weapon, wearing a disguise with the intent of committing a crime, and possession of stolen property.
