Lakeshore is beefing up its flood defence systems.
The town is beginning a sanitary sewer cleaning project and a closed-circuit TV inspection. The work is set to begin Monday.
The purpose of the project is to help the town identify any potential trouble areas while inspecting and maintaining the integrity of the sewer system.
This initiative is part of Lakeshore's ongoing inflow and infiltration program, which had been identified as a priority in the town's flood defence program, according to a release provided by town spokesperson Rita Chappell.
Residents of Lakeshore had been clamouring for action in upgrading the town's sewer system since a torrential rainfall in late August 2017 caused flooding in some areas.
The project will primarily be in the areas of Amy Croft Dr., Patillo Rd. and Old Tecumseh Rd. The town thanks residents in advance for their patience as traffic may be affected at times.
D.M. Robichaud Associates Ltd. is the contractor performing the work.
