Some soldiers from Windsor and London are going to be training in Michigan this weekend and next week.
The Canadian Armed Forces says approximately 500 members from the Canadian Army Reserve in Southwestern Ontario will be participating in "Exercise Arrowhead Shield" at Camp Grayling, Michigan from August 24-31. This training exercise will focus on basic soldier skills to meet specific battle standards, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, along with peacekeeping or combat.
“Exercise Arrowhead Shield" will demonstrate our ability to deploy a capable and well-led Territorial Battalion Group consisting of various combat arms and support units," says Colonel Chris Poole, Commander 31 Canadian Brigade Group. "The exercise will help to improve and sustain our readiness in support of Canada’s and our allies’ defence priorities both at home and abroad.”
The exercise includes the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment, the Windsor Regiment, the 1st Hussars of London/Sarnia, the 31 Signal Regiment from London, the 4th Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, London/Stratford and the 31 Service Battalion from London/Hamilton/Windsor.
