Suspect in Taggart murder case back in Canada

The man accused of killing a Windsor mom is formally charged with the crime.

Windsor police say Jitesh Bhogal, 27, was brought back to Windsor Saturday from Washington state, where he had been held in connection with the June murder of Autumn Taggart. He made his first appearance in a Windsor court on Sunday, according to Constable Andy Drouillard.

Bhogal, a Canadian citizen who had been living in Michigan, waived his right to an extradition hearing last week. He is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated sexual assault, and break-and-enter.

Taggart, 31, was found dead June 10 in her apartment in west Windsor. Police believed that her nine-year-old son was in the residence at the time of the crime.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by phone at (519) 258-8477 (TIPS) or online, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
