No swimming at four local beaches this week

High levels of bacteria have prompted the local health unit to issue a warning about swimming at four local beaches this week.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says swimming is not recommended at Sandpoint Beach, West Belle River Beach, Mettawas Beach, and Cedar Beach because bacteria levels are above acceptable limits. The health unit says the beaches will remain open this week because the bacteria levels are not considered unsafe. However, it warns that swimming may pose a risk to public health.

Sandpoint Beach, West Belle River Beach, and Mettawas Beach had swimming warnings last week.
