Over the coming months, it will get a lot busier at Tecumseh Mall in East Windsor.
The mall is welcoming four new major retailers. PetSmart and Giant Tiger are expected to open on the east end of the mall at the beginning of October, and later this spring, Marshall's and HomeSense on the west end of the mall.
General Manager Colleen Conlin believes the future is bright for retail in East Windsor.
"You have to keep positive, and you have to keep the momentum going," said Conlin. "In Windsor, it's changed drastically when it comes to retailing. It's been a positive comeback for Windsor, and the east end has been strong."
The mall took a blow some years back when Zeller's, and later Sobey's shut down, but with the addition of HGS Global and the newest tenants, Conlin said the mall would be close to capacity.
Negotiations to bring Marshall's and HomeSense took about a year, said Conlin. She admitted other retailers could come on board in the future.
"Everything happens slowly. With those four major tenants, there will be changes; there's no doubt," she said. "There's probably renovations happening with some existing national tenants, and we work with new independent tenants, so there will be some changes happening all next year."
Tecumseh Mall has been open over 30 years.
