Police warn about suspicious couple at Sandwich Secondary School

Lasalle police are warning the public about two suspicious people at Sandwich High School.

Police said two students were spoken to by a strange couple along Laurier Drive on Monday at around 1 p.m. School officials called police because the scenario is similar to possible attempted abductions being reported on social media in Windsor.

The students told officers they were walking to a home on Laurier Drive between Malden Road and Matchette Road when they noticed a light blue Chrysler Town and County minivan on the opposite side of the road with its hazard lights on. They said a woman in the driver's seat leaned out and asked, "Excuse me, can you please come over here and help me?" as a man got out of the rear of the van. The students ran to the home, locked the door and watched the van drive-by slowly toward Matchette Road.

The woman is described as a white older female in her 70s or 80s, with a chubby face, wrinkles, moles, long silver/grey hair put up with a bump at the front, black-rimmed glasses with slight cat-eye shape and a light-coloured button up long sleeve shirt. The man is described as white in his 40s or 50s with dark brown hair and wearing baggy jeans.

The students said no attempt was made by either the man or the woman to touch them or grab them.

Call Lasalle police at 519-969-5210 if you have any information.
