If you are cleaning out your closets this weekend, put aside any old coats you will not need this winter.
The Unemployed Help Centre in Windsor is looking to match old coats with new owners.
It started its 2018 Coats for Kids drive September 1 and will wrap up the campaign at the end of October. With just a few days left in the month, the centre is urging people to donate now.
The centre is accepting new and gently-used winter coats for both children and adults. There is a particular need this year for boys' and girls' coats sizes 9/10, 11/12, and 13/14, as well as children's and adult gloves.
"There is already a chill in the air at this point in the season, and we need to hit our goal so that local children will be warm throughout the winter," said CEO, June Muir. "No child should be without a coat in cold weather. It is a basic necessity, and we're happy to be able to do our part in providing it."
Coats can be dropped off at the Unemployed Help Centre's office in Windsor at 6955 Cantelon Dr.
The coats will be distributed to families who need them starting November 10.
