A Windsor man has been charged in connection with a three-hour east side standoff.
Windsor police say Raymond Vidal, 43, is accused of two counts of mischief under $5,000, mischief endangering life, and breach of recognizance.
Officers were called to a home on Ellrose Avenue between Guy Street and Tecumseh Road East shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday after reports of a disagreement surrounding property damage, according to WPS Public Information Officer Sergeant Steve Betteridge. Police determined that the complainant lived at the home with two other adults and noticed a vehicle parked out front with its windows blown out. A man whom the complainant accused of doing that damage had locked himself in the home.
The house was cordoned off, and Essex-Windsor EMS were on scene with Windsor Fire and Rescue, since the suspect had allegedly threatened to set the house on fire. The WPS Emergency Services Unit were also on scene with a negotiator, who communicated with the man via phone.
The third occupant of the home, who was with the suspect in the home, soon exited with police guidance. BlackburnNewsWindsor.com video shows a suspect surrendering peacefully to police.
There were no injuries and no evacuations were needed.
The investigation is ongoing.
