Former city councillor elected Catholic school board chair

Fulvio Valentinis is no stranger to elections, and he won another one Tuesday night. He is the new chair of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.

After two decades on Windsor city council, Valentinis was first elected as a Trustee to the school board in 2014. He was acclaimed to his new role.

This is an excellent time to be assuming a leadership position with this board," said Valentinis. "Our student achievement results are consistently above provincial averages, we're in a sound financial position, and we continue to offer some of the most innovative programming of any school board in this province."

Valentinis takes over the position from Barb Holland who left the board after 18 years.

He said his priorities include continuing to manage board resources, upgrading facilities, and expanding programming.

Lisa Souilliere will continue in her position as vice-chair.

The chair and vice-chair are chosen annually.
