Four Windsor-area people nabbed in drug bust near Kingston

Four people from Windsor-Essex have been arrested after a drug seizure near a medium-security prison just west of Kingston.

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Penitentiary Squad, the Napanee OPP Detachment, and Correctional Service of Canada seized over 54 grams of cannabis resin, 170 grams of tobacco, and a variety of pills worth an estimated $24,000 near the Bath Institution on November 19.

Joshua Erdodi, 31, from Windsor is charged with possessing, producing, selling, distributing or importing anything with the intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and failing to comply with court orders to be lawful.

Melissa Ann Iler, 37, Barbara Anne Montgomery, 38, and Ryan Durocher, 40, all from Essex, are charged with possessing, producing, selling, distributing or importing anything with the intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Erdodi remains in custody and the three others accused were released on a promise to appear. They are scheduled to appear in a Napanee court on January 8.

The investigation continues and more charges could be laid.

Sergeant Cynthia Savard of the OPP East Region Headquarters said investigators believe the drugs were headed for the prison.
