A LaSalle man's holiday season just got a bit brighter.
Aldo Borrelli, 63, headed to the OLG's Prize Centre in Toronto this week and picked up a $100,000 cheque for being a top winner in the Instant Mission: Money game. The retired teacher and frequent lottery player said it's the first time he's walked away with a big haul.
"It's my first big win!" said Borrelli. "I enjoy playing charity lotteries, and sometimes instant tickets, Lotto 6/49 and Lotto MAX."
Borrelli, a married father of two with his first grandchild on the way, bought his winning ticket at the Mac's Convenience Store on Sandwich Pkwy. in LaSalle. He said he had trouble believing he had scratched off a winner in the $5-per-play game at first.
“I asked [my wife] what she would do with $100,000, then I headed to the store to make sure it was a winner,” said Borrelli.
Borrelli said he will use the money to take a vacation, pay off his new car, and help with the cost of the baby shower for his soon-to-be-grandchild, due in February.
