Police seek hit-and-run driver in Kingsville

Ontario Provincial Police officers are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and then took off in Kingsville last week.

Constable Jim Root said the incident happened Friday around 12:30 p.m. An elderly woman told officers that she was crossing Main Street East in downtown Kingsville when she was knocked down by a passing vehicle that travelling west.

The woman told police that the driver, who was operating a silver or grey SUV, got out of the vehicle long enough to yell at her, then got back in and drove away. He did not provide identification or try to help the injured woman, who was treated and released from hospital.

Root said the downtown area of Kingsville was well-populated with drivers and pedestrians at the time of the incident, and he is confident that someone must have seen something. Anyone with information or who can identify the vehicle or driver involved is urged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Any anonymous tips can be phoned in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online, to be eligible for a cash reward.
