LaSalle police have released additional details concerning a Christmas Day stabbing that wounded a local man.
Deputy Chief Kevin Beaudoin said in a media release issued Thursday that officers were called around 9 p.m. Tuesday to an area of Golfview Drive and Matchette Road, where they found a 20-year-old Windsor man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Police say the suspect met the victim at a home in Windsor, and the pair had intended to go to a local bar. With the bar closed for Christmas, they drove into LaSalle and stopped at a laneway near Matchette and Golfview. A fight ensued and the man stabbed the victim several times. The victim was able to flee the vehicle, an orange-coloured Honda Element with Arizona licence plates, and the suspect drove off.
The victim worked his way through a wooded area, bleeding from his wounds and a passerby came to his aid. The name of the victim is not being released.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who noticed anything unusual in the area on Christmas night or who may have seen the vehicle is urged to call LaSalle police at (519) 969-5210. Anonymous tips may be phoned in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-258-TIPS (8477).
