Windsor man charged with assault in East Algoma

A game of pool that got out of hand has resulted in assault charges for a Windsor man and his son.

Ontario Provincial Police in East Algoma said the incident happened on Sunday. Officers were called shortly after 10:30 p.m. to a bar on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake on a report of a fight.

OPP Constable Phil Young of the East Algoma detachment said the complainant reported a group of men getting into an argument over a pool game. Punches then began flying, though it was not clear who started it or how many people were involved.

After an investigation, police arrested Mark Renaud, 49, of Windsor and his 24-year-old son Christian Renaud, of Elliot Lake, and charged them with assault. These charges have not been proven in court, and a court appearance has been scheduled for both defendants in the Ontario Court of Justice at Elliot Lake on January 29, 2019.
