A crash in the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Sunday sent people to hospital and snarled border traffic.
Windsor police say it happened around 5 p.m. Two vehicles collided head-on at about the midway point of the tunnel.
Police, fire and EMS crews from both Windsor and Detroit assisted with the incident. Three people were taken to hospital with various injuries, but non-life threatening. One went to a hospital in Windsor, the other two to Detroit. It was not immediately clear if they all traveled in the same vehicle or from both of them, nor did police specify how serious the injuries were.
The tunnel was closed for about two hours so crews could clear the vehicles and complete their investigation. This resulted in backups at the Ambassador Bridge, though as of 10:30 p.m. Sunday, only a ten-minute delay was reported for Canada-bound traffic at that crossing.
Additional information will be passed along when it becomes available.
