What's open and closed this New Year's holiday?

If you still need to stock up for that New Year's Eve bash or that football-watching party, the LCBO and The Beer Store are open until 6 p.m. December 31.

The LCBO is closed on New Year's Day, as is the Beer Store. There will be Beer Xpress Home Delivery offered until 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve, but not on New Year's Day.

All government offices will be closed on New Year's Day. This includes ServiceOntario offices, which will begin closing at 1 p.m. New Year's Eve. Contact your closest location for exact hours. Certain transactions can be performed online.

The 211 Call Centre will remain open through the holiday period, but the 311 Call Centre will close January 1.

There will be no mail delivery or garbage pickup on New Year's Day. Residential garbage pickup will be delayed by a day after the holidays, and there will be a Christmas tree and yard waste collection on the weeks of January 7 and 14.

All community and customer service centres in the city of Windsor will only be open for scheduled rentals on a number of days through the holiday season, so residents are encouraged to call the centre before heading out. Arenas close at 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve and will be closed New Year's Day.

The Lanspeary Lions and Charles Clark Square outdoor skating rinks will close New Year's Day. On New Year's Eve they will be open until 3 p.m.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the holiday, although it will close at 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Bright Lights Windsor at Jackson Park will be open each night from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m through Sunday, January 6.

All branches of the Windsor Public Library will be open until 5 p.m. on December 31 but will close for January 1. All branches of the Essex County Library will be closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, reopening Wednesday, January 2.

Transit Windsor riders are asked to check the schedule for bus times online.

There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor on New Year's Day, with all metered street parking free. Parking payment centres will be closed on January 1.
