A Windsor firefighter is being remembered for his devotion to family, firefighting, and the outdoors.
Funeral services have been set for Wesley Orr, who was killed this past weekend in an accident at a midwestern Ontario ski resort.
He would have turned 26 on January 15.
According to an obituary provided by Windsor Chapel, Orr graduated from high school at Ecole Secondaire l'Essor in Tecumseh and completed the paramedicine program at the University of Toronto. He then joined Windsor Fire and Rescue. Orr was also part of the fourth generation of the Melvyn Orr Trucking family.
Orr is survived by his parents, Terry and Louise of Tecumseh, brother Dillon and sisters Erin and Melanie, and grandmother Jeanne Orr. He is also survived by his girlfriend, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as his colleagues with Windsor Fire and Rescue.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 8 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., then 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Windsor Chapel's Banwell campus at Tecumseh Rd. E. and Banwell Rd. A firefighters' walk-through will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9 in the chapel. Orr will be cremated.
Orr died in the early-morning hours of Friday while attempting to climb an outside wall at the Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood.
Flags at all of Windsor's fire stations are at half-staff in memory of Orr, and will remain that way until after the funeral on Wednesday.
