Students looking for summer jobs are often encouraged to start looking while the snow is flying, and the town of Essex can help.
Once again this summer, the town is looking for students to fill a variety of positions, which according to human resources manager Brandi Sieben, may lead to further full-time employment down the road.
“Working for the town is a great opportunity to build skills and gain experience in a number of potential career paths,” said Sieben. “We often have youth who return to summer work for a number of years and many who have gone on to work in the municipal sector.”
According to the town's official website, jobs are available in departments throughout the municipality. Nine summer student positions are being offered in the parks department, for example. Openings are also found with Colchester Harbour, public works, horticulture, and human resources. Essex is also looking for a tourism development intern as well as a heritage assistant.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Those attending high school, college or university full-time and going back in the fall of 2019 are preferred.
Complete information and the online application form can be found on the town's website. Applications must be either emailed to the HR department or dropped off at Essex Town Hall at 33 Talbot St. by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1.
