A man and a woman have been charged after allegedly attempting to flee officers in a stolen vehicle that got stuck.
Windsor police said it happened around 7:30 p.m. on Friday when officers responded to a call concerning a recovered stolen vehicle on Walker Road near Seymour Boulevard. A white pickup truck was seen inside a commercial building at that location, and it was determined that it had been stolen from the Leeds and Grenville area of Ontario.
Officers blocked one of the bay doors with their vehicle and walked into the building, but the pickup sped away using another bay door. Additional officers were dispatched to the area and the pickup truck was later found abandoned on a nearby set of railway tracks. Property stolen from the commercial building was located inside the vehicle.
The investigation revealed that the two suspects had run from the tracks after getting the pickup truck stuck on them. Two sets of footprints were shown leaving the scene in different directions.
The male suspect, identified by police as Cody Krumm, 28, of Windsor, was apprehended near Walker Road and Grand Marais Road East. He is charged with break-and-enter and possession of stolen property over and under $5,000. The other suspect, a 37-year-old Windsor woman who has not been identified, was found hiding behind a car on Temple Drive and Starway Avenue and arrested. She has been released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
These charges have not yet been proven in court.
