Suspect nabbed in Windsor gas bar robbery

It did not take long for Windsor police to pick up a suspect in a Monday morning robbery.

Officers responded around 1:15 a.m. to a call about a holdup at a gas station on Howard Avenue at Grand Marais Road East. The clerk told police that a man entered the business, stated he had a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and product. The man then ran from the area. No weapon was seen and the clerk was not hurt.

Windsor police Sergeant Steve Betteridge said the investigation led officers to a nearby motel. Within an hour of the crime, a suspect in the robbery was arrested without incident.

Detectives then obtained a warrant to search the motel room. Several items believed to be associated with the robbery were seized.

The suspect, identified by police as 31-year-old Daniel Trombley of Windsor, is charged with one count of robbery. This charge has yet to be proven in court.
