GPS helps police track vehicle stolen from greenhouse

A Kingsville man faces charges after the Ontario Provincial Police and Windsor police tracked a stolen vehicle to the parking lot of a Windsor restaurant.

The OPP arrived at a greenhouse complex on Kratz Side Road in Kingsville around 8 a.m. Monday morning after someone smashed a window and got into a building. The thief stole a vehicle that was parked inside.

The good news was that the vehicle had a global positioning system, so officers were able to track it quickly to the City of Windsor.

They called police in the city for assistance and converged in the parking lot of a restaurant on College Avenue.

After speaking with a man inside the restaurant, they arrested him.

Steven Kennedy, 32, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, break and enter, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.  The charges have not been proven in court.

He will be in a Windsor court on April 24.
