There has been a major development in the month-old strike by 86 public health nurses in Windsor.
The Ontario Nurses Association reported Tuesday morning it had a tentative deal with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
Great news! we have reached a tentative settlement for our Windsor Essex public health members. All pickets planned for tomorrow are canceled. Thank you so much foe those who committed to attend tomorrow!

The strike started on March 8.
Talks picked up again last Wednesday, but lasted less than an hour.
However, the two sides were brought back to the bargaining table on Friday and continued talks on Monday.
Details of the deal have not been released, but wages were a major sticking point. The union fought for wage parity for the nurses with more male-dominated professions like Windsor police and firefighters.
