The two drivers involved in a messy crash in Kingsville on April Fool's Day have been charged in connection with the collision.
The driver of a vehicle parked on the side of County Road 18 has been charged with an over-width load for a commercial vehicle. The driver of the tractor-trailer that hit the parked truck has been charged with failure to turn to avoid a collision.
Ontario Provincial Police Constable Jim Root said the parked truck, equipped with an excavator, was parked around 8 a.m. on the south shoulder of County Road 18 near Graham Side Road, with part of the vehicle on the roadway itself. The second truck, loaded with produce, was travelling east on Road 18 when it hit the first truck and dislodged the excavator. Both tractor-trailers were heavily damaged but no one was hurt.
The road was closed to traffic until Monday evening so the investigation could be completed and the contents of both trucks could be removed from the road.
