A Windsor man accused of fleeing in a stolen vehicle was not able to get too far away from officers.
Windsor police said they got a report around 6 a.m. on Friday about a vehicle stolen from outside a home on Vimy Avenue near Lillian Street. The car, a white Chrysler 200, was stolen sometime during the night, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.
Just over two hours later, police responded to calls concerning a vehicle, matching the description of the stolen car, being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Wyandotte Street East near Glidden Avenue. Officers spotted the vehicle on Wyandotte East near Strabane Avenue a short time later, still being driven erratically, but there was no pursuit out of consideration for public safety. Natyshak said officers noticed the vehicle several more times, but there was no pursuit.
Around 1 p.m. Friday, police spotted a suspect leaving a business in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Moy Avenue and arrested him without incident. The stolen car was parked in a nearby alley.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Kyle Quinn, is charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property over $5,000, failure to stop for police, and two counts of dangerous driving.
These charges have yet to be proven in court.
