Suspicious person arrested in Lakeshore park

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to get children to approach his vehicle in a Lakeshore park.

It happened shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday at Lakeview Park in Belle River. Officers responded to a call concerning a man who was reportedly trying to persuade children to enter his vehicle, which was located near the splash pad.

Rogelio Nativi, 41, of Lakeshore has been charged with two counts of communicating with minors for the purpose of obtaining sexual services. Constable Jim Root said Nativi appeared at a bail hearing and was released from custody, and he will have an opportunity to defend himself from the charges in an appearance at Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor, set for a later date.

Police commend the public for reporting the incident promptly, which resulted in the quick apprehension.

The vehicle in question was a silver Toyota Corolla four-door sedan, similar to the one seen in the photo above. Anyone who has had any similar dealings concerning this vehicle is urged to call the OPP immediately at (519) 723-2491.
