Coming off the heels of a very successful viewing event at Charles Clark Square Sunday night, the organizer of Windsor's version of the Jurassic Park event is looking ahead to the rest of the NBA Final series.
Game three is on Wednesday night, but with Environment Canada forecasting rain and possibly thunderstorms that day, Renaldo Agostino with Elements Entertainment is thinking he might give that game a pass and focus on Friday night and game four instead.
The final attendance figure was 2,720 people at the free event. Agostino is not sure how much it cost Elements Entertainment to host the viewing party sanctioned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. He said the event came together so fast he is still calculating the final cost.
He raised some money at the licensed bar, but not enough to make a profit.
"The only revenue stream that we had was to have a bar that held 150 people," he said. "The profit margin on a drink is less than $2."
Whether Agostino can pull together an event for Friday night depends on whether he will be able to raise funds, and he is hoping the City of Windsor will maybe pick up the tab and take on the liability.
"I think every other city, the city is picking up the tab on showing the game and I think we may be the only one that's not," said Agostino. "We are willing to continue to do the work."
So far, the series between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors is tied at a win apiece, and excitement for the series is only growing. This is the first time the Raptors have made it to the finals. Toronto took game one against the heavily favoured Warriors 118-019, while Golden State won Sunday night's matchup 109-104.
Game three starts at 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Start time Friday is also 9 p.m. and both games will be played in California.
